Hello my dears! I took a short vacation with the hubby to Bangkok, Thailand last week… and had such a decadent time shopping & dining that I’m finding it hard to get back to the swing of things. It has been more than 2 years since we took a trip together, and I loved it […]

Tom Ford is one of those brands that have me completely in awe. It seems to be focusing more on limited edition capsule collections rather than maintaining an extensive permanent range. And this model appears to be really working, because season after season, every piece in their new collection are snapped up faster than you […]

Tom Ford Beauty released the new Traceless Perfecting Foundation alongside its Fall collection last month, and I was looking forward to trying it out. I was a big fan of the original Traceless Foundation (reviewed here), so much that I was so close to ordering a bottle from the US just because I couldn’t wait […]

It always seemed strange to me to be talking about liquid illuminators in the summer as that is probably when you need them the least. Instead, as the months get progressively drier as we approach winter, not to mention the blingy year-end parties, I find myself thinking more about illuminators. I’ve collected a few over […]

Hot off the trail of the previous FW2014 collection, we now turn to Tom Ford’s Holiday 2014 offering. This time, it almost feels as if the brand “cheated” a little by re-promoting 2 cream color for eyes both from the Spring 2012 collection. It was soldout then, and I am glad for a second chance […]

There is always something, a moment in time, that sets us off on a different trajectory in life. That first kiss, first touch, first taste of the luxe… For me, the first whiff that set me on the path towards haute fragrances was Tom Ford Black Orchid. Up until then I had enjoyed good perfumes, […]

Are you still, reeling from those 50 phenomenal Lips and Boys from Holiday 2014? Hot on their heels are 4 brand new Tom Ford Lip Color Shine lipsticks for Spring 2015! While those boys were exceptional with their color variety, with the turning of the season, I feel like a lip wardrobe refresh is in order. Now that party season is over, and we are well on our way into the business year, I need something a lot more wearable on a daily basis. And there is no better choice than one of these Tom Ford Lip Color Shines for ultra comfort, color and shine!
The Tom Ford Lip Color Shine range features an ultra-creamy formula that feels lush on the lips and are a much more comfortable alternative to the main Tom Ford Lip Color range, which are somewhat drying on me and I can’t get more than 2 consecutive days’ wear without needing a break. They are slightly denser and creamier than Chanel Rouge Coco Shine, and not as slippery as YSL Rouge Volupte Shine. In terms of coverage, these Lip Color Shines are traditionally slightly sheerer than the other Tom Ford Lip Color range, and the colors are more neutral, the my-lips-but-better description comes to mind, but at their price points, we really need something better than mere lip balms. And these Spring 2015 releases put all of the wonderful perks of the Lip Color Shine formula to work plus amped up color and shine!
Because I’m so terrible at taking close-up lip swatches, I’m going to give you the full LOTD. And somehow with the full face in context, you can tell the effect of the various shades better. Yes, 4 of my faces in 1 post, that’s some kind of record I think!
Tom Ford Lip Color Shine Frivolous is a soft warm-toned pink with creamy beige undertones and a lustrous shiny finish. This is a very sweet, everyday wearable shade that would match most Asian skintones, and goes with most of my makeup.
Tom Ford Lip Color Shine Sultry is a soft coral with warm undertones and a shiny finish. This is a nice, everyday alternative to the more violent matte orange lip colors that I’ve been sporting in the Fall [see here], and puts a healthy, juicy look back to my lips.
Tom Ford Lip Color Shine Unabashed is a mauve-ish pink with the same color intensity as Frivolous, but pulls more mauve with stronger blue-base. On my pigmented lips the difference is almost indecipherable, but once matched to an overall look, it becomes more obvious.
Tom Ford Lip Color Shine Lust is the boldest of the 4 in this Spring release, and it is a soft red with very fine shimmers. I love this shade the most as I find it strikes a good balance between a sultry pout whilst still being very day-appropriate.
I am very happy to find 4 new additions to the Tom Ford Lip Color Shine range as this is a wonderful formula, so easy on the lips and everyday wearable. More importantly, I find these new additions bring shine to a whole new level. They also feel more opaque than the previous members of the family, and easily cover my lips in 1-2 swipes. All 4 have a good level of color intensity to be more than mere MLBB- overpriced lip balms, and pair wonderfully with this season’s surprisingly bold eye looks. It will all make even more sense once I unveil the rest of the Spring 2015 collection from Tom Ford shortly – stay tuned!
These new Tom Ford Lip Color Shine lipsticks will be available in February, and will retail for SGD$72 each.

The post New Tom Ford Lip Color Shine for Spring 2015 appeared first on Silverkis' World.
I’m very excited to be able to bring you a preview of the upcoming Tom Ford Spring 2015 Collection! As I had alluded to in my earlier post on the new Tom Ford Lip Color Shine, Tom Ford has taken a very bold approach to makeup this Spring. Drawing inspiration from the ‘70s rock and roll culture, the look for Tom Ford Spring 2015 is all about bold eyes and soft lips.
Hot, sexy, smokey eyes are central to the look. To achieve that effect, Tom Ford will be offering 3 new limited edition Eye Color Duos.
These Eye Color Duos feature a new formula that is designed to be used wet and dry. I was told they are similar to last Fall’s Nude Dip [reviewed here] but I found these Eye Color Duos to be richer in color, and much more dimensional when worn wet and layered together. What appears to be “white” in each of the duos are actually different opaline shades filled with iridescent shimmers to match the darker shade – pale pink for Ripe Plum, mint green for Raw Jade, and icy lilac for Crushed Indigo. They are well pigmented on their own, and may be worn alone for a delicate shimmery eye. Paired with winged liner, that could be quite a charming day look.
“Dry” swatches above are as follows:
Here are some close-up shots of each of the Eye Color Duos.
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo Ripe Plum for Spring 2015 (SGD85)
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo Raw Jade for Spring 2015 (SGD85)
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo Crushed Indigo for Spring 2015 (SGD85)
Although they are lovely applied dry on their own, the shades become much more intense when applied with a damp brush. And when the lighter shade is layered on top of the darker shade, the overall look really comes alive! On the eyes, these gelle shadow powders reflect the light to give a multi-dimensional look.
The swatches above are organized as follows: light opaline shade on left, dark accent color in middle, and layered on right. As you can see, when layered, the shades in Ripe Plum produce a metallic coppery plum, Raw Jade produces a cool-toned metallic green, and Crushed Indigo a beautiful metallic peacock blue.
I have been putting Crushed Indigo through a series of tests over the past 2 weeks, and am happy to report that it really does wear as intensely on the lids when applied with a damp brush as it swatches.
However, when used dry, it did not apply as smoothly as what I have come to expect from Tom Ford.
It is also worth noting that Crushed Indigo only lasted about 6 hours on my lids before starting to fade and crease. On most people, this may not be an issue, unfortunately I have extraordinarily fussy lids. Tom Ford Eye Primer Duo typically works miracles for me in extending the wear of my eyeshadows, however I was told the formula is incompatible with these Eye Color Duos and my experience so far proved likewise.
What did work for me, was to first apply a dark cream shadow as a base (I like to use Chanel’s Stylo Yeux in Black Stream), and then pat on Crushed Indigo. This is a method I use quite often to make bold colors pop, and I found it helped hold Crushed Indigo better, prevented fading and creasing throughout the day.
Crushed Indigo also suffered from fallout during application, although once done, I did not notice further fallout as the day progressed. So be sure to clean up after you’re done with a q-tip and some powder, or else start with the eye makeup before going onto foundation.
I’m not sure if the issues I faced are unique to Crushed Indigo only or even just the one that I received, but I will be sure to update this post if I uncover something new.
To complete the bold eyes and to inject some fun into everyday makeup, Tom Ford will also be releasing 2 new Extreme Mascaras in Black Plum and Teal Intense. These use the classic Tom Ford Extreme Mascara formula that does not clump or crumble, and has a big full brush to amplify those lashes. I’m also happy to report that Black Plum does not smudge on me!
Tom Ford Extreme Mascara Teal Intense (top) & Black Plum (bottom) [SGD65 each]
To round up the collection, there will also be 2 new limited edition nail lacquers in Black Jade and Indigo Night [review coming soon]. There is also a repromote of Bitter Bitch from the permanent collection.

Before I go, here is an entirely Tom Ford LOTD featuring Crushed Indigo on the eyes (applied wet), Wicked on the cheeks, and Frivolous on the lips.
Tom Ford Spring 2015 Color Collection will be available from March in Singapore. Will you be picking any of these up?

After falling in love with Black Orchid, I craved more of Tom Ford Fragrances, something that I could wear on a daily basis, but one that still had sufficient complexity and personality to it. Although I loved many Tom Ford Private Blends, most of them tended to be somewhat one-note, and are better worn layered. At USD215 for 50ml each, I wasn’t quite ready to invest in 2 bottles just to create 1 everyday scent. I tried them on slowly, one after another, until I finally came to Café Rose… and just lost myself.
“When you showcase their darker and less innocent aspects, flowers can become so thrilling and beautiful, they could almost ruin you.”
– Tom Ford
Tom Ford Private Blend Café Rose was first released in 2012 as part of the Jardin Noir collection (or otherwise fondly termed the “Twisted Florals”). I wished Tom Ford had chosen to name this Rose Boudouir instead or something less blasé than Café Rose. It conjures up images of old-lady sickly-sweet rose scents hovering over dainty tea cups. And for fans of Tom Ford, that is the last thing we want to be associated with! Instead, the name suggests the aroma of coffee, something darker and exotic. Completely unexpected pairing for a rose scent, and perhaps that is the element of surprise by design.
One spray of Café Rose wraps me in the richness of May rose, Turkish rose and Bulgarian rose… the most seductive and lush of all beauties. But there is a velvety warmth to it all, the intimacy of amber and patchouli enraptures, and draws you deep into their embrace. Top notes of saffron and black pepper, as well as base notes of incense and sandalwood keep things a little spicy and prevents Café Rose from turning either too handcream-ish or Middle Eastern. Similar to most Tom Ford fragrances that I have encountered so far, Café Rose remains true to its original character throughout, although the initial spicy burst fades away after about an hour, the rest of the notes remain harmoniously balanced until you remove it.
I fail to capture the aroma of coffee, but it is not missed. Nor is there the cloying sweetness that I typically associate with roses. Instead, Café Rose emobodied the sex appeal of Black Orchid, a sophistication and elegance that is truly Tom Ford, made wearable on a daily basis. Café Rose is one of a few Tom Ford Private Blends that are sufficiently full-bodied to be worn on its own. It does not project as strongly as Black Orchid which makes it more appropriate for the office, but still with enough longevity to stay on me throughout the day.
Are you a fan of rose-scented fragrances? If so, do you prefer sweet ladylike roses, or something warmer and more woody?

Welcome to a brand new week!! This is going to be a power-packed week, I promise! And I’m starting out with one of my favorite nail polishes of all time… Tom Ford Indigo Night Nail Lacquer! As I had briefly introduced in an earlier post, Indigo Night is 1 of 2 very special nail polishes that Tom Ford has designed for Spring 2015.
Tom Ford Indigo Night Nail Lacquer is a stunning royal blue with the most amazing shimmers in the bottle. I love just turning the bottle this way and that to watch the shimmers move around, it is mesmerizing and feels like the starry night. When applied on my nails, Indigo Night turns into a blackened blue with hidden shimmers. The shimmers are very subtle, and lends more depth to the polish. It shows up much better under sunlight.

I’m not the biggest fan of the brush design of these Tom Ford nail lacquers as they are long and thin, not the wide and flat brushes used by Dior, YSL and Guerlain. It certainly takes some getting used to, but I’m grateful for the fact that Tom Ford has made it so the square cap snaps off (older Tom Ford Nail Lacquers did not). The bristles are also fairly stiff and do not splay out everywhere, allowing much more precision.
The only draw back is the formula is very thin and takes up to 3 coats to be completely opaque. If you are fairly heavy handed, you can probably get away with 2, but I usually apply very thin coats. In any case, Tom Ford nail lacquers are some of the fastest drying polishes I’ve ever encountered, so it really is no trouble at all.

Tom Ford Indigo Night is definitely an unexpected color for spring, but this is the kind of shade that I love. It is a modern take on black, more elegant and timeless than blue. The closest comparable I own is Burberry Ink Blue [reviewed here], which is a murkier shade than Indigo Night and contains no shimmers at all, making it feel flat in comparison to Indigo Night. Also, Indigo Night lasts me a good 3 days before starting to experience gentle wear at the edges, which is as good as it ever gets for me.

Tom Ford Spring 2015 has begun popping up in stores and online in some locations worldwide. I had previously swatched everything and provided a detailed review of the Eye Color Duo in Crushed Indigo here, please feel free to hop over for an introduction on the collection. Since then, I was able to get hold of the other 2 shades, and I would like to take you through a more detailed look in case you are still undecided. For this post, I will be focusing on Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Ripe Plum and the Extreme Mascara in Black Plum.
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Ripe Plum is a pair of powder eyeshadows in the new wet-and-dry formula. It consists of an opaline pink with a semi-sheer base, and a dark plummy brown. When layered together, the duo forms an iridescent metallic coppery plum.
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo Ripe Plum for Spring 2015
Here are the swatches from left to right: – opaline pink, plummy brown, layered.
Upon first swatch, Ripe Plum felt markedly different from Crushed Indigo as it was softer and swatched much more smoothly. The difference in quality was even more obvious when worn on my lids. Here is an eye look created with Ripe Plum used dry.
And here is another look with Ripe Plum applied with a damp brush.
As you can see, there is very little observable difference between wet and dry application of Ripe Plum. This is very good news for me as I am always rushed for time and don’t have a habit of applying my eyeshadows wet. Ripe Plum also lasted me all day both with or without a primer, and did not crease nor fade on my lids. This is the kind of quality that I have come to expect from Tom Ford! Ripe Plum’s ability to stay budge-proof made it suitable for a different kind of wear that I was not able to do with Crushed Indigo – opaline pink all over the lid for an “invisible shimmer” to brighten, and the plummy brown close to the lash line as a sort of smudged liner all around the rims of the eyes.
This is a much softer way of wearing the shades instead of full-on smokey, and is really idiot-proof for those blurry eyed mornings, no blending needed! And for me, it helps define my otherwise tiny eyes and brings more focus to my face, while still remaining quite fresh-looking and day-appropriate.
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Ripe Plum really stood out to me when I first met these duos. However, when presented with the option of choosing only 1, Ripe Plum felt the most dupeable of the 3. And certainly, if you owned as many Tom Ford Eye Color Quads as I do, you will invariably have quite a number of plummy browns / brownish-purples.
Swatches taken under direct sunlight
Swatches taken under indoor lighting
The darker shade in Ripe Plum when worn on its own is actually more of a brown with a slight shimmery finish over a satin base. It straddles the purple-brown divide nicely as you can see – not quite as brown as Golden Mink, nor as plummy as Enchanted. I was surprised when it turned out quite similar to Nude Dip as it did not look that way in the pan.
Whilst I have a very soft spot for a good plummy brown, the more exciting shade in Ripe Plum is actually the opaline pink. It appears white in the pan, but actually turns out pink on the skin. As you can see from the swatch comparisons above, it is rather cool-toned, almost neon, and it is semi-sheer. The color flashes out when light is reflected, and it is very fine. In contrast, Enchanted is not as pink, and packs more shimmers. Lavender Lust is actually a glitter shade with a translucent base, it is chunkier and contains less color pigment.
I also wanted to take a bit of time to review the Tom Ford Extreme Mascara in Black Plum. This is 1 of 2 limited edition shades for this Spring 2015 collection. However, this is the first time I have tried Tom Ford’s Extreme Mascara formula, and my very first reaction upon applying it on my lashes was quite simply, WOW!
The brush is quite large, possibly one of the largest I have ever used. It is shaped like a cone, narrower at the tip and much fatter at the bottom. On my small eyes, it does feel a little overwhelming initially, but the tapered front made it much more adaptable. After getting used to the brush, I’m really loving the fatter base as it grabs my lashes and extends them to infinity and beyond!
The formula does not clump, but it does provide nice definition to my otherwise insignificant lashes. It lifts my lashes well regardless of how many coats I apply. Black Plum is a dark purple that matches the Eye Color Duo in Ripe Plum well. The color shows up well on my black lashes even with just 1 coat (I’ve had a lot of difficulty getting colored mascaras from other brands to show up in the past, so this is another wow factor for me). Tom Ford Extreme Mascara in Black Plum stayed on all day and did not smudge. It is certainly a luxury item at SGD65 each, and I’m happy to find that it does not disappoint in the least.
And before I go, here is a complete look featuring Ripe Plum on the lids and Black Plum on lashes!
In this photo, I’m wearing Tom Ford Eye Color Duo Ripe Plum on Eyes, Contouring Cheek Duo in Softcore on cheeks, and Lip Color Shine in Unabashed on lips.
Overall, Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Ripe Plum far exceeded Crushed Indigo in terms of quality, and it is exactly what I had expected from Tom Ford. It may be slightly dupeable, but the ability to wear it wet and the beautiful opalescent 3-dimensional look when layered makes this a real stunner. Tom Ford Extreme Mascara in Black Plum is a fun colored addition to an otherwise spectacular mascara formula. Go ahead and splurge, if for no other reason, do it in the name of saint valentine’s!

I am reminded today of how wonderful it is to have like-minded blogger friends who are willing to share. Meryl of Memoiselle.com and I did a little swap of our Tom Ford Spring 2015 items, and I’m delighted to be able to round up my review of the collection with Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Raw Jade.
Tom Ford Raw Jade Eye Color Duo is 1 of 3 limited edition eyeshadow duos for Spring 2015. I had previously provided an introduction to the entire collection and a detailed look at Crushed Indigo here, and reviewed Ripe Plum here. As I had already discussed this new wet and dry formula in the past, please feel free to hop over those pages for more details, whilst I keep this post fairly concise.
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo Raw Jade for Spring 2015
Raw Jade consists of an opaline mint green and a dark khaki with golden shimmers. The texture is soft and smooth, on par with Ripe Plum, with Crushed Indigo being the driest of the lot. The color intensifies when applied with a damp brush, and when layered together, they form a cool-toned metallic shimmering green.
Here is how Raw Jade looks on my lids:
It’s beautiful, and the color shows up very nicely. However, when layered, Raw Jade turns out much cooler against my skin tone than I’d normally wear, and so to make it more day-accessible, I prefer applying the opaline mint green all over followed by the darker green just on the outer corner of my eyes and blend it in. The resultant look is as follows:
Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Raw Jade lasts all day on my lids without creasing or fading. When I first saw Raw Jade, I had thought it would be a dupe for Sahara Haze, an older Tom Ford Eye Color Quad that has now been discontinued. However, having played around with Raw Jade a bit more, it feels much cooler-toned than Sahara Haze. Unfortunately, I had sold my Sahara Haze some time ago so I am unable to provide comparison swatches here today, but Sara at ColorMeLoud has that well covered. The conclusion is, not all that similar at all.
And to give you an idea of how Raw Jade looks in context, here is the complete LOTD:
Tom Ford Spring 2015 collection will be available in Singapore in March, but it is already onsale at Tomford.com (unaffiliated link). As mentioned, Raw Jade was kindly loaned to me by Meryl, do pop over to her post for some gorgeous swatches including those Extreme Mascaras!

Happy Mani-Monday again my loves! I hope everyone had a very lovely Valentine’s Day weekend! My hubby surprised me with the greatest gift of all – cleaning up our massive floor-to-ceiling display bookshelf! I know it sounds duh, but when you’re married with a toddler, and no domestic helper to boot, spending a precious weekend just before the crazy Chinese New Year festivities, volunteering and actually committing to a massive cleaning job is no small feat. So yay to the mister! And now turning to more important business at hand, I have another Spring 2015 limited edition nail lacquer to show you!
Tom Ford Black Jade Nail Lacquer is 1 of 2 limited edition nail colors for Spring 2015. It is a very deep blackened green with the most beautiful iridescent micro shimmers. On my nails, it turned out much blacker than Indigo Night, the other nail color offering from Tom Ford this season. Black Jade reminds of the most mysterious forest on a midsummer’s eve… very enchanting indeed.
The shimmers in Black Jade are very subtle, only showing up under direct lighting, but serves to provide greater depth to the color. On its own, Black Jade dries down to a matte finish, and I personally find the color pops much more with a good glossy top coat.
Consistent with all other Tom Ford nail lacquers, Black Jade applies rather thinly, and requires up to 3 coats to be completely opaque. I may be in a rush when I was swatching it, but it felt to me to take slightly longer than Indigo Night to dry completely. Regardless, once it does, it lasts me a good 3 days before minor wear at the edges, and up to 5 days for major chips to happen.
And with this post, I have completed my review of the entire Tom Ford Spring 2015 collection! For a look at the Eye Color Duos – Crushed Indigo, Ripe Plum, Raw Jade. This bottle of Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Black Jade was kindly lent to me by my dear friend Meryl. Do hop on over to her blog to show her some love too!

Tom Ford has me on a roller coaster this whole season! I was first enraptured by the cool ‘70s rocker chic look that the Tom Ford models wore on the runways, and read that Charlotte Tilbury had designed the looks and had used a black cream color for eyes on the models! But when I finally got to preview the Spring 2015 collection, I was told there would only be 3 powdered Eye Color Duos (in blue, green, and plum). And then last month I spied this mysteriously unnamed creation on Selfridges, and knew I had to have it!
Tom Ford Cream Color For Eyes Spring 2015 is strangely unnamed, and released independently from the rest of the Spring 2015 collection (Eye Color Duos, Extreme Mascara, and Nail Polishes). It is officially described as a smoky grey, but on my lids it turned metallic ash -brown. Under some lights it turns a cool graphite with just a hint of khaki, but it never veers too cool nor too warm. There is quite a bit of shimmer when you swatch it straight out of the jar, but is so fine that when sheered out, it becomes barely visible unless up-close. True to Tom Ford style, this has built-in complexity, although it is much more muted than the other Cream Color for Eyes that preceded it.
Tom Ford Spring 2015 Cream Color for Eyes is insanely pigmented, the merest wisp of it will give you an intensely dark color. However, there is also a lot of slip in there that makes it easy to blend out. Simply use a fluffy brush and sweep it over the crease. A word of caution though, since this is quite a dark color, start with just the tiniest bit of product that you can manage, go slowly just along the lash line and blend out. Wait a full minute for it to set then layer on more gradually to get to your desired level of intensity. If you start off with too much, it is easy to get muddy and may smudge under the lids if your brush strokes are not 100% precise.
Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes Spring 2015 worn sheer over Tom Ford Eye Prime, with 1 dab of opaline pink from Ripe Plum over the center of lid
I generally love the formula of Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes, as they as easy to work with, are complex in color, and set to become completely budget-proof until removed. As such, I was disappointed to find this Spring 2015 rendition to be under par for me. Of course, by now we are familiar with my troublesome hooded oily lids, which eliminates everything but the bullet-proof ones. And unfortunately Tom Ford’s latest Cream Color for Eyes did not make the cut. The color creased and faded in patches after about 6 hours and got progressively worse. It fared much better with an eye primer, but it is extremely fussy and will pill (as seen in the EOTD above) when paired with a creamy primer. Also, I wished the color was more iridescent and more complex, as it can look rather dull when sheered out on my lids. To compensate for this, I end up reaching for 1 of the opaline shades from one of the Eye Color Duos [my favorite being Ripe Plum] or any sheer shimmery powder eyeshadow and dabbing over the cream.
I had high hopes for this latest cream color because I had problems with the Eye Color Duo in Crushed Indigo [reviewed here] from the same Spring 2015 collection, and was hoping this might work well as a darkening base to hold Crushed Indigo in place. And it sure looks lovely layered, providing more complexity to the cream whilst toning down the bright bold color of Crushed Indigo to make it more smokey. Too bad, this does not last as the entire look will start to fade and fall into my eye fold as the day progressed.
Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes Spring 2015 all over lid, followed by the darker shade from Crushed Indigo patted on top. Finally, the opaline shade from Ripe Plum blended in the crease.
At USD42 for 4.2gm, I really needed the latest Tom Ford Cream Color for Eyes Spring 2015 to be nothing short of perfect. Unfortunately it failed to wow me, although my friend Sara seemed to have much better luck with it.
Will you be picking up anything from Tom Ford Spring 2015? I have reviewed each of the items in detail as follows: Eye Color Duos Ripe Plum, Raw Jade, Crushed Indigo; Nail Lacquers in Black Jade and Indigo Night.

Hello! I’ve been having an intense week, and between juggling work and a 3-day old migraine, I haven’t been having much energy to do anything else. But there is nothing quite like a good dose of gorgeousness to perk things up! And I’m really excited to be able to show you the very latest Tom Ford Summer 2015 Soleil Collection! The collection will officially launch here in Singapore this Friday 8 May 2015, and I am very privileged to be able to check out everything in person. Feast your eyes out with these close-ups and swatches!
Tom Ford Summer 2015 Soleil Collection seeks to capture the sensuality of the golden summer light against bare skin. Eyes smolder in burnished tones and metallic finishes, against glowy cheeks and shimmering skin. Take a closer look in this campaign video here!
I have not had the chance to test out these products in depth yet, but I wanted to get you the complete swatches and some very preliminary thoughts so you still have time to get a hold of these. As always, Tom Ford limited editions run out in the blink of an eye, so it is a good idea to be prepared.
The “must-have” piece of the collection, is the Tom Ford Eye and Cheek Palette.
What had appeared to be redder in the early promo images is actually a very lovely, complex burgundy with golden & baby pink micro-shimmers! Described as golden violet, it leans warm on me but the pale frosty pink and sheer shimmer wash give the flexibility to vary the final look. The cheek shades are really very interesting with a warm-ish rose gold highlighter and satin plum blush with a sheen.
What is completely new this season, are the Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Colors. These come dual-layered, with the top lid snapping open to reveal a powder eyeshadow, and the bottom twists open to reveal a cream shadow in a glass jar.
There are 4 Cream and Powder Eye Colors, but unfortunately the shipment for Naked Bronze has yet to arrive when I was there today.
Swatches for Golden Peach are below, layered on left, cream middle, and powder on right. This is probably the “sweetest” and most everyday wearable combination, although it is very reminiscent of the In The Pink trio from Fall 2013.
Swatches for Black Oyster are below, layered on left, cream middle, and powder on right. This is the most contrasting pairing, with the deep charcoal cream and brilliant silver glitter.
Swatches for Midnight Sea are below, layered on left, cream middle, and powder on right. This is the most striking pair as the blue powder shade is the most opaque, and the choice of pairing it with a deep bronze cream shade is really unexpected.
The Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer formula returns this year with 2 repromotes – Sweet Spot and Paradiso – and 2 new colors – Skinny Dip and Rose Soleil. With the exception of Rose Soleil, these are not shimmery, the luster of the lipsticks had reflected light to cause the swatches to show up as such below.
Another brand new item, one which has never been seen before, is the Tom Ford Cream Cheek Color.
On my first swatch, this very first cream cheek color in Pink Sand has a formula that is very reminiscent to Illuminating Cheek Color from Summer 2013. It is very emollient, and the color is very sheer. Although it looks rather pink in the pan, it actually swatches out a rose golden color.
The Tom Ford Bronzing Powders are back, and this year they are also available in a smaller size that is easier to handle for those of us with smaller palms, and of course much more convenient for traveling. It is the same size as the cream cheek color, both approximately 3/5 the size of the full-sized bronzer, as you can see from the picture below.
And finally, there is 1 incredibly special item – Tom Ford Shimmering Body Oil!
It is so easy to overlook this, after all, the promo images didn’t seem like much. But trust me, this one smells AMAZING… slightly coconut-ty and warm, the way summer should smell… but remember, this is Tom Ford, so it is much more than that! And the shimmers are just spectacular! I would not use this all over my body, but on the hair, shoulders, and maybe dab it with a brush on the cheek bones.
Seriously, just look at that! Gah!! I can’t even!
